Hot Storage Startups to Watch – Recommend a Startup

Startup50 just entered into a new partnership with IDG to run “Hot Startup to Watch” competitions. The first of these competitions is:

10 Hot Storage Startups to Watch

The first IDG site we’ll be working with: Network World.

To be eligible, the startup must:

  • Have been founded in 2012 or later.
  • Be a real startup. No subsidiaries, spin-outs, or business units “run like a startup.”
  • Have storage as your reason for existing, not as an ancillary feature.

Deadline for nominations: 12 PM PT, Friday, February 16, 2018

Online Voting will begin on Startup50.com on: Tuesday, February 20, 2018.

Update: We are no longer accepting new nominations for Hot Storage Startups.  Come back on Tuesday, 2/20/18 when the online voting round begins!

An old partnership renewed

The partnership takes us back to the very beginnings of Startup50, working with the very publication that helped launch Startup50 and prompted us to develop the foundation of the process we now use to select top startups.

Rather than relying on gut feelings and educated prognostication, we now focus on challenges and objective criteria.

The process starts with an Online Voting and Social Media Amplification challenge, which is followed by a blend of automated selections based on key fundamentals (funding, leadership’s track record, named customers) and eye-test selections based on more subjective criteria (how well do you understand the market; how strong is your niche; how unique is your value proposition; how well do you stack up against the competition, etc.).

If you’d like to look back at the very first of these competitions, you can read about it here: 10 Hot Cloud Startups to Watch.

If you haven’t recommended a storage startup, please do! Otherwise, come back to Startup50 on Tuesday, February 20 to vote for your favorite storage startups.
