I have a unique coverage opportunity for startups, VCs, and other investors. I’m working on a couple of stories for IDG Insider Pro. The first story will look back on the important startup and datacenter trends of 2019, while the second will look ahead to the startup, investment and tech trends that will influence the market in 2020.
I’ve already begun researching startup trends, working with the startups I featured in one of my startup roundups for Network World and/or in my Big50-2019 startup report. I’ve received several really good responses. Thanks to all of the startups that submitted entries!
Yet, I still have a gap in the story I’d like to fill. If you are a VC, angel or other startup investor, I’d like to get your take on 2019 and 2020 investment, valuation, and exit trends.
If you’re representing a startup and you sought funding in 2019 or are in the process of seeking funding for 2020, I’d also like to hear from you. What are you seeing from the other side of the conference table?
In addition to potential coverage in IDG Insider Pro, I will also feature several of your answers on Startup50, so you have three opportunities for coverage if you participate in this opportunity.
If you’d like to participate, please fill out the short survey below by EOD Wednesday, December 11, 2019. Thanks!
I’ve written a bunch of prediction and year-in-review stories in past years, both under my own byline and ghostwritten for CEOs. Here are a few tips to help your answers pop:
- For the year-in-review questions, be sure you can back up your claims. Readers may want to check your work.
- For 2020 predictions, however, go big or go home. You do want to stay within earth orbit, but look for high-risk, high-reward scenarios where a few things must break right in order for this prediction to come to pass. Otherwise, you’ll just blend into the herd.
- In other words, if your prediction is one everyone will agree on, it’s not much of a prediction. These stories aim to challenge conventional thinking, and they favor long shots over sure bets. But that long-shot pick should still be a horse in the race and not a unicorn or centaur.
- Have fun and don’t overthink it!
