Each year, Startup50 features startups that are poised to upend the status quo in a range of industries, from next-gen cybersecurity to Software-Defined Networking to the Internet of Things. The startups featured in the Big50 2018-19 are the best of the best, the ones who competed hard all year to earn this distinction.

Changes in 2019: Collaborative Report
We’re doing things a little differently with this year’s Big50. Startup50 has experimented with a different formats in the past. This year, we’re trying something quite a bit different.
This year’s report will be published in stages, and it will include both collaborative and interactive phases. The collaborative phase will include research and analysis done in conjunction with the startups who made it through to the end of the competition, as well as an interactive phase that will include subscriber input. We’ll have more details for you soon.

We have several repeat winner’s in the Big50 2018-19 Startup Report, including three-time winners BigPanda, Platform9, Versa Networks, and Webscale. Two-time winners include MapVida, Tamr, Virgil Security, and Virtru.
Big Exits
2018 was a busy year for Big50 alumni. Elastic, Pivotal Software, and Zscaler all had successful IPOs in 2018, while several startups, including Skyport Systems and Velostrata, were acquired by incumbents (in this case, Cisco and Google, respectively).
Big50 Startups Raise Hundreds of Millions in VC Dollars
Collectively, startups in the Big50 2018-19 Startup Report are backed by a total of nearly $4 billion(!) in VC funding. That total includes big rounds locked down this past year, including Snowflake Computing’s massive haul, which gives the startup nearly $1B in total funding. Funding highlights include:
